Pedrollo · Superior Pool Pumps

How We Made Pool Pumps Worth Watching

A three part, human led, AI assisted campaign that carried a technical pool pump launch from consumer frustration to a memorable product payoff, and ultimately to market demand.

Manufacturer · Distributor · Retailer · Consumer

The strategic shift

We shifted from the industry's familiar formula of technical language, product specifications and advertising that looks and sounds like everyone else. Instead, we created a funny, human story rooted in a problem every pool owner understands: algae.

By showing what Superior Pool Pumps makes possible, we made its value meaningful to manufacturers, consumers, installers, distributors and retailers.
01

Challenge

Turn an overlooked product category into a reason to stop, watch and click.

Pool Pumps Matter. Their features alone rarely create an emotional connection.

Pedrollo needed to launch Superior Pool Pumps to multiple audiences with different priorities. Distributors needed a credible product story. Retailers needed confidence and an easy message to help sell the product. Consumers needed a simple reason to care.

The creative challenge was to make the product memorable without losing the performance promise behind it.

02

Approach

Lead with the outcome. Deliver the proof through story.

We built one connected campaign around what Superior Pool Pumps makes possible: a clean, inviting pool backed by dependable product performance, service and supply.

  • Start with the problem: a dirty pool puts the backyard lifestyle out of reach.
  • Make the benefit memorable: an unhappy frog turns a sparkling pool into a visual punchline.
  • Complete the commercial story: product demand, shipping and service restore order for the distributor.
Each video advanced the story from the consumer problem, to the memorable payoff, to the commercial demand that follows when a product delivers.
03

Execution

Three stories carried one product promise from backyard problem to market demand.

01 / Consumer Problem

The Pool Reality Check

A couple is forced to confront just how dirty their pool has become. The humor begins with a familiar consumer truth: the backyard dream disappears when the water is too dirty to enjoy.

Pinterest Winner 02 / Product Payoff

The Frog's Complaint

A sad frog stands in the rain under his umbrella, lamenting that the pool is now so clean and so popular that he can only swim at night. The unexpected point of view turns product performance into a memorable punchline.

03 / Commercial Payoff

Distributor Chaos

A great product has sold through and the distributor is in chaos. Superior Pool Pumps' dependable product and shipping response restore order, making service, supply and customer confidence part of the story.

Testing

Use organic response to find the story worth scaling.

The campaign's organic testing identified the umbrella Frog as the strongest creative. We then supported that video with a focused paid test on Pinterest using a modest budget.

1 People saw the Frog creative 10,668
2 People clicked the Pin 528
3 People continued to the website 492
The results reported below belong only to the paid Frog test. We followed the audience journey from impression, to Pin click, to outbound website visit to see whether the story could move people from entertainment to genuine product interest.

Results & Learnings

The umbrella Frog did more than get watched. It drove people to the website.

With just $69.55 in paid media, the Frog video generated 10,668 impressions, 528 Pin clicks and 492 outbound website visits.

The story did two important jobs. It captured attention at a rate well above commonly reported Pinterest advertising benchmarks, then converted nearly every Pin click into a website visit. That tells us the creative was not simply entertaining. It created enough interest for people to take the next step.

1
4.95% click through rate More than three times the upper end of the commonly reported 0.5% to 1.5% range for a good Pinterest ad click through rate.
2
$0.13 cost per click Far below the commonly reported Pinterest advertising range of $0.50 to $1.50 per click.
3
93.2% click to site continuation Nearly everyone who clicked the Pin continued to the website. This is a campaign specific efficiency measure, so there is no responsible public Pinterest average to claim.
4
4.6% outbound visit rate About one website visit for every 22 impressions. Public benchmark sources do not consistently report this exact calculation, so it is shown as campaign performance rather than a forced comparison.
The commercial story is clear: humor earned attention, the product promise sustained interest and the winning creative moved 492 people from Pinterest to the website for only $69.55 in media. Benchmark context: DashThis Pinterest Ads KPIs reports a good Pinterest ads click through rate of 0.5% to 1.5%. WebFX Pinterest benchmarks reports a typical advertising cost per click of $0.50 to $1.50. Benchmarks vary by objective, audience, category and timing.

Business Insights

What the campaign teaches beyond the media results.

Marketing Insights

Emotion opens the door to technical value.

The Frog story made the audience feel the benefit before asking them to understand the product. Humor, character and a clear visual payoff increased memorability without trivializing performance.

Commercialization Insights

One campaign can connect the full sales funnel.

The three part arc gave consumers, retailers and distributors different entry points into the same product promise without asking one video to do every job.

Product Launch Insights

Test broadly. Scale deliberately.

Organic testing helped surface the strongest creative; the focused paid test then measured whether that story could move people beyond viewing and toward action.

The takeaway

Complex products become compelling when the story makes their value easy to see.

Imagination Network connects consumer insight, brand strategy, storytelling and commercialization from first idea through the full sales funnel.
